I doubt you’ll have time for this, but I thought I’d give it a shot. I need help. I’ve spent hours trying to find a keyboard for my fiancé who is really into music. I’m a military man, and the military doesn’t pay dick. Lol. My budget is 300 but if I have to extend it to 500, I will. I’ve been scouring all Black Friday ads and cyber Monday deals. Any help? I’d appreciate it..

Is she someone who is totally into the piano? There’s a couple of different routes that you could go. You could go with a digital piano that has weighted keys, then I would recommend the Casio CDP S-100. It’s a nice entry-level digital piano that is still decent. The Roland FP-10 would be my next recommendation, but this is $500 and I haven’t seen any black Friday deals.
The Roland Go88 would be a nice option if she likes to write music as there’s a bunch of different sounds she can access.

I am obsessively shopping for a digital piano for my son who’s about to head off to college. He mostly plays classical concert piano pieces and will be using headphones most of the time. Obviously online shopping for such a thing is tough. I went out yesterday searching for a good deal. I feel like I absolutely have to keep it under $500. Some notes, and I’d like your opinion: I actually liked the sound of the Casio CPD-S100 and 150 better than the Yamaha P45 and I thought they had better dynamics. Am I nuts? Is it going to be a different story with the headphones? I checked out the Williams pianos and was disappointed with the piano sound. Tried an Alesis Recital Pro Hammer action and thought it was okay, but bulky. Should I try to locate a Roland FP-10? Did they get rid of that for the GO models? Korg B2? Spring for a Kurzweil SP1? Should I search for used? Are there generics (like Lagrima) that are surprisingly good? Should I be happy I can get the CPD-S100 for $350 and go about my shopping? Do I need to wait for Black Friday? Will it make a difference this year? Sorry for all of the questions. I’ve clearly lost it. Help!
Hey Brandon, I agree with you on the Casio CDP-S100 and 150. Sweetwater has a $79 sale on the CDP-S100 and you can get that for $379 currently.
What’s nice about the S models is that they are extremely light-weight and portable. Casio has also come a long way in their sounds and technical features with their digital pianos!
Here’s a link to the CDPS-S150. This is basically the same as the S-100, however, it has a few more features including MIDI capabilities which I think is important.
